Lancering publicatie Social label
Op vrijdag 7 april 10.00-12.00u -tijdens de DesignWeek in Milaan- is de officiële lancering van de publicatie Design Works: an open book on designing labour. Locatie: Social label c/o home/studio CRUD 13, via cola montano, 201509 Milano.
Kan schoonheid Europa redden?
We zijn blij met de bijdragen van Henri Swinkels, gedeputeerde Cultuur & Leefbaarheid, Provincie Noord-Brabant en Jonathan Holslag, Professor Internationale Politiek, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Special Advisor van de Vice President van de Europese Commissie. Holslag schreef speciaal voor de publicatie het nawoord: Kan schoonheid Europa redden?
Een open boek over het ontwerpen van arbeid
De beeldende boekpresentatie over de betekenis van design voor de samenleving is enerzijds een overzicht van ervaringen uit de praktijk, opgedaan tijdens de diverse bezoeken aan werkplaatsen door Nederland, zowel in de zorg- en welzijnssector als bij sociale bedrijven. Anderzijds biedt de publicatie inzichten verkregen uit de Publiekscolleges van Social label ism wetenschappers, de Ronde Tafels met stakeholders (bestuurders, ontwerpers, zorgprofessionals, CEO’s) en de veranderingsleer van Aukje Smit, onderzoeker inclusieve arbeidsmarkt. De initiatiefnemers Petra Janssen (Studio Boot) en Simone Kramer (C-mone) geven met hun publicatie input voor een andere kijk op arbeid en samenleving via de kracht van design en communicatie.
Message of inclusivity to Europe
Met tot besluit persoonlijk statements voor een nieuwe economie waarin de menselijke maat, vakmanschap en verbeelding op waarden worden geschat. Een warm pleidooi voor sociaal en creatief ondernemerschap. En tegelijkertijd een serieuze oproep om -met vallen en opstaan- mee te doen de inclusieve wereld vorm te geven voor een nieuw toekomstperspectief voor mensen, Nederland en Europa.
Tijdens de presentatie geven de makers van Reinier van Arkel een live workshop van hun Social label productlijn. ‘Joy of Work’ in ons kleine huisje, CRUD studio in Milaan. Je bent van harte welkom!

Can beauty save the world?
Official book launch in our tiny house during Salone di Mobile Milano on Friday 7 April 10:00-12:00.
We are pleased that Henri Swinkels, Provincial Council Representative, responsible for quality of Life and Culture, Noord-Brabant, the Netherlands, and also Jonathan Holslag, Professor of International Politics, Free University Brussels and Special Advisor to the First Vice President European, contributed to the publication. Holslag wrote a special afterword ‘Can beauty save the world?’
An open book on designing labour
Together with all the insights gained from the debates, a ’theory of change’ of Aukje Smit, experiences and practices the publications offers an overview of Social label, from the birth in 2011 until now. All tackled from different perspectives and highlight a range of sheltered workshops and social businesses, exploring what design can do for society in terms of social inclusion. From lessons learned in the process, to ‘a manifesto’ for a new economy based on human values. The publicatie ‘Design Works’ by Petra Janssen (Studio Boot) and Simone Kramer (C-mone) celebrates the power of design and communication, and is a striking attempt to make a change in the Dutch system of labour, participation, and social return.
Message of inclusivity to Europe
Social label is ‘bringing its message of inclusivity to Europe’ and presenting its ideas for an human-scale economy at a small private home in the Isola Milano area. In collaboration with leading designers and sheltered workshops all across the Netherlands – from care organisations to businesses – we are creating a design collection that builds a sense of self-worth and opens new perspectives. We are a platform for designing labour to create new opportunities and demonstrate what meaningful design can do to create an inclusive society with enjoyable work for all.
